History

Giovanni Torre (often referred to by her stage name, Giogio) is an American model and actress. Born in Bridgeport, Connecticut on May 28th, 1995, she made her acting debut in the 2002 film Where the Heart Is. She is best known for her role as Jenna Graves in the long-running television show Corpus Delicti. She worked on Corpus Delicti from 2003 to 2008, then left acting to pursue a career in modeling. Sources close to the set of Corpus Delicti cited her reasons for leaving as being related to her health, but Torre has never made a public statement regarding the departure. As a teenager, Torre initially modeled for brands such as the Gap and Calvin Klein Kids. Starting in 2015, Torre pivoted to designer fashion and lingerie modeling. In 2016, Torre gained notoriety for a viral internet video in which she struck fellow model Gina DeVries with a high heel at a Los Angeles nightclub. At that point, she had become a fixture of the late-night clubbing scene and was a frequent subject of various tabloid publications. Torre was charged with assault in a court case that ended in a two year withdrawal from the public eye for the model. In 2022, Torre announced that she would be returning to acting with a role in the upcoming film Over Your Dead Body. In 2023, Torre appeared to announce a hiatus from acting and modeling in a cryptic tweet; “halting all projects. so fucking done tbh so no one freak out when i don’t show up for work tomorrow ❤️ just need a break 😘” Giogio is an only child, with her parents making their home in Bridgeport, Connecticut Openly bisexual, Giogio has been criticized online for being a poor role model for LGBT youth Giogio is rumored to have been ordered by a judge to enter an inpatient program following her assault charge in 2016

The trial of dereliction

Something happened to me once. When I was like… ten? I was already on Corpus Delicti. We were filming an episode, something I didn’t understand as usual, but we were in the woods. It was an overnight shoot, and they have all kinds of rules about child actors so I don’t know why I was there, but… It was my bedtime, and it was me and my mom in the trailer and everyone else was on set. I heard something outside, like something like… rustling around out there. My mom was asleep, and I remember being scared. But I still went outside to look. I could hear the sound of them doing a take in the distance, the only light came from the flashlight I brought out. Ugh… I don’t always remember it right. It always starts out the same. There’s a rustling in the bushes. I shine my flashlight at it. I walk closer. Into the bushes, into the dark. And I see something in there. Sitting in the dark, between the towering trees, on the muddy ground. My shoes stick in the mud. The woman sits in the mud. She looks like a hiker. a huge shape on her back. She smiles at me, too many teeth. But I’m not afraid, because she doesn’t look like she wants to hurt me. She looks like she knows me. Like she knows me more deeply than anyone else ever will. So I turn, and I walk back to the trailer. I don’t look back, I go inside and lock the trailer door, I turn off my flashlight, and I go back to bed.

Behind the scenes

Corpus Delicti S05E20 “Father’s Day” Murder comes home to roost for Dan when one of the first perps he ever caught gets parole and decides to take his revenge. After a fight at home where Jenna confronts Dan for missing her birthday party because of work, Jenna goes missing. It's a race against time to find her before the Greenfield Killer takes another life. HARDY: So in this scene, Jenna really feels like she’s been let down. She thinks her dad isn’t going to come for her, she’s terrified. But then, she gets a sliver of hope. Her dad is there, he’s going to help her. But he’s too late. The hope is still in her eyes when Wilson kills her. What do you think, too much? LISA: No, I like it. Gee’s a big girl, she can do it. Right, hon? GIOVANNI: Yeah, it’s okay. I saw The Killer Calls last week, ‘cause my friend Mary was in it. She got her throat cut and she was really good in that part. LISA: You’re gonna be even better than her, baby, I know it. Corpus Delicti won an emmy for Giovanni Torre’s final episode, “Father’s Day” Corpus Delicti followed the story of gifted criminal profiler Dan Graves, and his team. Giovanni Torre unsuccessfully sued documentarian Abel Wells for citing her career in his documentary Great Imitators, in which he explored the ethics of child acting.
